AMERICAN DOLL POSSE / Tori Amos

American Doll Posse debuts with a big splash on the charts, making it Tori Amos' sixth CD to debut in the US Top 10. The name American Doll Posse, refers to five female characters Amos developed around the CD's 20 tracks. In essence, the characters represent different aspects of Amos' own personality. “What I'm trying to tell other women,” she says, “is that they have their own version of the compartmentalized feminine, which may have been repressed in each one of them.” In this powerful collection, Amos sings like a bewitching Siren with a remarkably forceful focus.
