This 2006 novel by American novelist Cormac McCarthy has been adapted into a feature film to be released this year with actor Viggo Mortensen
as the lead. The novel itself is a dark entry into an unnamed post-apocalyptic period in which the bond between a father and son defies their bleak
situation. The father and son, referred to only as the “man” and the “boy,” travel a desolate and wasted terrain with little hope for finding food and
water. Somehow they manage to sustain themselves and avoid many life-threatening situations. The Road is unsettling, yet hopeful, reminding us
of the amazing power of love.
