In the world of Feng Shui, the Chinese art of placement, it is important to create “space” for new ideas to materialize. One of the most basic ways to make room for your changes is to begin by clearing any clutter.
Think of clutter as material taking up energetic space. If you want to bring something new into your life, remove something old. This is especially true if you haven’t used it in a very long time. Surfaces, closets, garages, basements and attics are a few of the places you might begin. It’s an arduous task, but remember this:
Any clutter, however small, is representative of emotional clutter that stops you in your everyday life.
Once you have cleared out various areas, be diligent about keeping them clear afterward. Here is a simple rule you can follow. Every time you bring something new into the house, give away, donate to charity or throw away something old. This keeps the energy moving.
Clearing your clutter also allows you to open up space for love in your life. In the Chinese “bagua” (a hexagon representing eight areas of life), there is a specific area that represents love. There are two ways to find this in your own environment:
- Standing at your front door, imagine that you can see through all the walls in your home. The farthest back, right hand corner of the house is the area of relationships. Or
- Find the southwest corner of your house.
You can use one or both areas in this exercise. The important task is to go to the area and see if there is anything cluttering the rooms. You might also look to see if there is anything in this room from a past love relationship that no longer supports you. Take a look at the art or furniture arrangement in this room. Does it speak of love by the pink and red colors? Is the art beautiful? Does it speak to you of love – perhaps an image of two people in love? Is there room for two people to sit comfortably? Or is this a room with dark, unfriendly colors, art featuring one person alone or a single chair without a place for a companion? Perhaps even that corner of your house is “missing” – often contemporary buildings that are not complete squares, have missing sections. If this is the case, then you can add mirrors to simulate a larger room, and ensure the art, colors and even the aromas are all conducive to love.
Many times your subconscious is saying one thing inwardly and another in your outer world. The important thing is to stop, look and reflect! Remove anything that does not support what you truly want in your life. Add something new to help you make your change. Think of what you would like to see in the home of your beloved and create that same feeling in your own home.
Renewal and love are important components in life. Together with the tools of feng shui, you can create room for both. Give yourself a treat and remember to clear the clutter throughout the year. This will open the doors to your ability to create a positive, self-renewing environment for love. With this in mind, you will also multiply the effects and enrich the lives of many others!
Passion Placement.
Increase the passion in your life by lighting a red candle. The Feng Shui element Fire fuels passion and the color red will generate romance. Add some love-evoking aromatherapy to the room with either geranium or ylang ylang essential oils. Place the oils and candle in the far right corner of your bedroom or a cozy den and enjoy the results!
