Most people have heard the adage that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day," however, many of us can't seem to find the time or energy to make it a regular part of our mornings. As it turns out, we may be missing out on some pretty big benefits.
Not only does breakfast provide the vitamins and other nutrients we need to function during the day, it helps us maintain a healthy weight by jump-starting our metabolism.
To make your own healthy breakfast, try an omelet using:
• 2 eggs
• 2 Tbsp. whole milk
• 2 Tbsp. low fat butter
• Vegetables or other fillings.
Heat a non-stick pan on low heat. Whisk eggs and milk together. Add butter to the pan and allow it to melt, then pour your egg mix in. Allow the eggs to cook until the bottom begins to set. Then, add your filling of choice. Work the edges with a spatula to prevent sticking. When the eggs have firmed, use the spatula to flip one side over the other. Cook thoroughly, flip and cook again.
Making an omelet is easy, and only takes about 10 minutes. Start your day with a healthy meal like this one to reap the benefits of a good breakfast.
