How different scents affect your mood

Essential oils are fun, easy to use and a great way to experience the benefits of aromatherapy. Different scents will affect your body and state of mind in unique ways, so the next time you break out the oils, take a little time to consider your selection.

Certain varieties, like ginger and tea tree, are great energizers and provide you with the lift you need to start your day. Ginger has warming properties, which will have a stimulating effect and can help improve circulation. Tea tree, on the other hand, is a cooling oil and will help invigorate your senses. Peppermint is another cooling scent, and has been used to relieve upset stomachs (just remember that essential oils should be applied externally only).

If you're looking for an oil that will spark a little romance, ylang ylang is a great choice. This earthy scent is sensual and relaxing. Another luxurious and calming scent is rose damask.

Consider using blended oils, or oils that contain more than one scent. You can make your own signature blends by experimenting, or try the Mandara Blend or Harmony Blend from Mandara Spa.

Essential oils are a great way to promote your overall well-being and health. Give them a try - you're bound to love the results.
