Everyone experiences bad hair days, but few pause to consider what their hair is trying to tell them. Whether you keep the mane of a lioness or you prefer it short and sassy, there are a few things you should know about your tresses:
1. Temporary hair loss can be caused by stress. If you've noticed locks falling out while shampooing, treat them to a quality shampoo, such as Phytocyane Revitalizing Shampoo for Temporary Thinning. Then, try and find a relaxing activity to participate in.
2. Dry, brittle hair can mean a few different things. In the summer, this is most often attributed to sun damage, which can weaken your strands. In other cases, it may be due overusing chemical products and dyes that have a drying effect on the hair and scalp. Try switching to gentler products, and keeping your head protected with a hat or bandana.
3. Dandruff doesn't necessarily equal danger. Those white flakes, while annoying, aren't usually an indicator of a serious health risk. It could, however, be a sign of eczema or psoriasis, or even indicate the presence of a mild fungus. If it doesn't clear up with the regular application of an anti-dandruff shampoo, consult a dermatologist. Also, if the flakes are yellow instead of white, it may not be dandruff, but a sign of a more serious skin problem.
