Many women embark on fitness routines to target one or two problem areas that they want to improve. If you are concerned about unwanted ripples around your belly, you may want to consider replacing strength training with jogging and power walks, suggests a study published in the American Journal of Physiology, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
The study, led by researcher Chris Slentz, an exercise physiologist at Duke University Medical Center, found that participants who solely engaged in aerobic exercise lost more visceral fat (layers of fat around inner organs that are notoriously hard to shed) than those who did strength training alone or a combination of the two.
However, those who completed a combination fitness program lost the most overall belly fat. Some strength training is essential to overall health and can support body detox efforts.
