There is nothing sweeter than getting a smooch from your beau, but if your guy has been avoiding your kiss as of late, your chapped lips may be to blame. Women's Health magazine recently discussed the best ways to get your pout in working order so you never have to miss a kiss again!
Prep your pout each day
Even though your lips are a key part of your face, the skin on your pout is some of the thinnest on the body, making it easy for your kisser to chap or peel. A Denver-based dermatologist reports the lips are even more sensitive to sunlight due to having less natural pigment, making the region much more susceptible to sun damage as well.
Because of this, it's important to prepare your lips for the day ahead - no matter if you're simply heading to the office, or are heading off to a destination vacation. According to the beauty experts at the magazine, the best way to lock moisture in your lips is to apply a soothing chapstick or lip balm directly after you get out of the shower. For an added boost, try pressing a warm facecloth on your lips for about a minute and then move it around in small circles to rid the area of dead skin, follow up with an application of Bliss products like Bliss Fabulips Softening Lip Balm, since this balm is enriched with shea butter and vitamin E.
Exfoliate when necessary
Since your lips are constantly peeling and chapping, it's important to make way for new skin by exfoliating the area. It's best to exfoliate about once every one or two weeks using beauty products that are gentle, yet powerful. Using Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub could be a great option since this product contains granulated sugar and vitamins A, C and E to nourish and condition your pout.
A professor of dermatology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine told Women's Health granulated sugar works to remove dry skin in a soothing manner.
Choose natural-based lipsticks
Rocking the hottest color on your pout is a must, but using any old lipstick is a major no-no, especially in the winter months. However, if you opt to wear a specific brand, make sure to apply a good lip balm beforehand to ensure your lips stay soft and flake-free all day.
