Fashion statements that could be dangerous

Fashion statements that could be dangerous

When it comes to looking fabulous, there's no limit to what some women will do in order to be glamorous. However, some popular beauty and statement trends may help you look better, but could also affect your health. Shape magazine recently discussed the biggest fashion dangers that you might be guilty of right now.

Stilettos
There is perhaps nothing sexier than rocking a gorgeous pair of sky-high heels, but this fashionable footwear could cause you some major pain down the line.

"High heels put all your body's weight on our forefoot, causing you to adjust the rest of your body to maintain balance," Dr. Ava Shamban, board certified dermatologist told the news outlet. "The bottom half of your body leans forward so the top half must lean back - this disrupts the normal 'S' curve of your back, flattening your lower spine and displacing your mid-back and neck."

Heels can also change the shape and the skin on your feet, leading to painful and unsightly bunions or hammer toes. If you've been bad to your feet lately, there are ways to help get them back in good shape, starting with finding pretty flats. Putting arch supporters like EnduraStep by GoodFeet SL4000 in your favorite heels might also help reduce pressure and pain.

Low-rise pants
If you've recently reached your weight-loss goal, you might want to show off your abs and firm butt in a pair of skinny, low-rise jeans. However, it might be smart to stick to mid-rise to avoid a serious health issue, Shape reports. If you've ever felt the area around your sides go numb, your tight pants could be to blame.

Dr. Jennifer Hanes, an emergency room physician, reports this condition was once only seen in men with large bellies, though due to the spike in low-rise jeans, women are complaining of the problem too.

"This condition is caused by a compression of the Lateral Femoral Cutaneous nerve," Hanes told the publication.

So next time you want to show off your firm abs, thanks to diet, exercise and using Bliss products like Bliss FatGirlSixPack, go for a bikini rather than a pair of jeans.

Other fashion no-no's include hanging out in wet bathing suits for an extended period of time, wearing bras that are too tight and rocking thongs on a regular basis.
