Get sexy hair for summer

Summer is here, and for many women, this means throwing their hair up in buns, ponytails or other fashions to keep their locks off of their necks and out of their faces. Though a chic chignon or top knot is totally in style for summer 2013, certain haircuts are also perfect for accommodating the heat and humidity. Here are a few styles to consider going under the blade for:

The Jennifer Lawrence "lob"
The lob is basically a long bob, hence the name, and luckily, this look tends to be fabulous on women of all face shapes. When you're in the chair, the experts at Cosmopolitan magazine recommend telling the stylist you want long layers, the longest of which will sweep your shoulders. Feel free to add sassy side bangs, face-shaping front layers or other tricks to keep the look stylish and chic all summer long.

An added bonus? The lob will allow you to pull your mane back on excruciatingly hot days.

Cut it off
Feel like reinventing yourself? Then Miley Cyrus, Elsa Pataky and Anne Hathaway should be your style icons. All three women are currently rocking short, almost pixie hairstyles, yet they manage to make each look their own. Hathaway, who is growing her hair out following a shave for her role in "Les Miserables," is perfect in her long-layered shag that she can style slicked back or off to the side for a more feminine side bang style.

Cyrus has embraced a modern punk spirit with a spiky, partially sheared 'do, while her future sister-in-law Pataky is naturally stunning in a signature short style.

The trick to managing all short do's? Having the proper styling tools. Investing in hair products like Steiner Discipline Styling Taffy 67.4g is a must since items like this work to keep locks in place, without weighing them down or looking oily.

Know your limits
Though you might be enticed to chop your locks off or even opt for a longer lob, it's important to really weigh the pros and cons of such a major decision - especially during the hot and humid months. According to Marie Claire magazine, this notion is even more crucial for ladies with curly locks.

"You need to have a realistic expectation of your style, depending on what kind of hair and texture you have," a professional hairdresser told the news outlet. "If you have curly hair, remember curls jump when you cut them, so your style will look shorter once you leave the salon."

Such cuts might also seem like a time-saver, but in reality, working to get each strand just right could end up adding time to your morning routine.
