It can be tempting to pick at or pop blemishes, as their mere appearance can nag at you all day long. While this may seem satisfying at first, all it's really doing is spreading bacteria and leaving room for scars, Heidi Waldorf, the director of laser and cosmetic dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, told Woman's Day.
