Lifestyle changes that can slow the hands of time

Looking younger and feeling more youthful are key aspects of getting older in 2013. More people than ever are making an effort to live well and be healthy enough to enjoy their retirement and golden years to the fullest. While some ladies might have an exercise and beauty routine - heading to Pilates and using anti aging skincare products - there are even better ways to turn back the hands of time.

Here are a few workouts (for both body and mind) made with anti aging secrets in mind:

Increase cardio
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends healthy adults get at 150 minutes of rigorous exercise per week, and if you're doing this, you might believe it's enough. However, Prevention magazine reports adding more time on the treadmill, elliptical or bike ride could boost benefits. Fitness expert Maureen Hagan told the publication performing cardio for 240 minutes per week is actually the optimal number.

According to Hagan, this magic number will help boost mitochondrial function, energy-producing organelles in the cells which tend to diminish with age. Having more energy means you'll be able to do more activities you love for longer.

Brain games
While working out your body is a must for living well later in life, keeping your brain sharp and focused is equally as important. Luckily, there are many ways to give your brain a boost, ranging from playing games like Sudoku to revamping your diet. WebMD reports many superfoods help to boost memory, cognitive function and more.

You may want to start munching on fruits like blueberries which have been found to help stave off oxidative stress in the brain and stave off cognitive impairment. Other foods like wild salmon, nuts, seeds, avocados and whole grains are also beneficial. You could also opt to begin using a dietary supplement aimed at maintaining your overall health.

The Jou Cool n Calm - Dietary Supplement is a suitable choice, as this organic product helps provide the body with essential vitamins, minerals and other natural benefits for a major boost.

Other techniques
Though you might already have a few ideas for revamping your current health routine, there are plenty of other ways to feel younger for longer. Prevention reports aiming to walk 10,000 steps each day, embracing high-intensity activities and checking in with your doctor on a regular basis can work to help you grow older with ease.
