Use shampoo to clean your makeup brushes

Use shampoo to clean your makeup brushes

When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? If you can't remember the answer to that question, don't feel too bad - you aren't alone. This is one beauty ritual that often goes overlooked, but it shouldn't. Think about how many times the bristles touch your face over the course of a week. If you're a makeup-every-day kind of girl, chances are you use the same brushes for each task, but unless you're cleaning them regularly, the buildup of oil and beauty products over time can result in bacteria growth. If this isn't enough to gross you out, just imagine what this could do to your complexion over time.

Clean your brushes the easy way
Although it might seem like an extra step, try giving your brushes a weekly shower of their own. Pricey products exist solely for this process, but as long as you're using a gentle shampoo, such as Phytolisse Perfect Smoothing Shampoo, go ahead and give the bristles a good lathering, then rinse them out. Afterward, lay them flat on a few paper towels to dry, ferrule down so the glue holding everything together doesn't loosen. It's as simple as that!
