Popular hairstyles are constantly shifting, but we can always rely upon Hollywood's hottest stars to sport the latest trends at award shows. At the 2014 Emmys, some of television's most distinguished actresses rocked a variety of hairstyles that may preview some of this season's upcoming hair trends.
One style that stood out among the rest was the middle part, a look that gained steam in the '70s and '90s, but died down significantly in the 2000s. However, it appears as though Hollywood stars have vowed to bring this look back, as the majority of the small screen's most notable stars were seen with this certain cut.
Nominees not afraid to part down the middle
Kerry Washington, known for her role as Olivia Pope on the critically-acclaimed "Scandal," was among the many women to rock this look. The 37-year-old actress had a medium-length bob parted down the middle, with dark brown roots and a light brown base. While her deep smoky eyes were equally stunning, the texturized volume of her hair wowed the crowd as she walked by.
To achieve enviable body like Washington, be sure to apply a volumizing product directly after washing your hair, as this item will attack your locks as they dry, adding body to the style. The Steiner Abundance Volumizing Spray for Fine Hair 150ml may be the best option, as it adds both strength and volume to your locks.
Laverne Cox, nominated for her work as Sophia in Netflix's smash hit "Orange is the New Black," sported a similar part, but rocked her look with an updo. Her roots were dark while her ends were light - both shades that were accentuated well with the part she adorned. To craft an updo with an equal amount of sass and class, start by dividing your hair in half. Using your hands, grab a small portion of your hair from the right half and gently roll the pieces, securing them to the back of your head with a bobby pin. Repeat the process on the other side, and pull your hair together with an elastic. Hold the look in place with a styling spray, like the Steiner Stay Put Extra Firm Finishing Spray 200ml.
Blonde locks shine with this style
While middle parts were all the rage at the Emmys, flowing blonde locks were equally as popular. Oscar-winner and Emmy nominee Julia Roberts waltzed down the red carpet with light blonde locks parted in the middle. Her strands stood out against her deep navy dress, but she was not the only actress to sport this shade of blonde. Natalie Dormer, known for her role as Margaery Tyrell on "Game of Thrones," rocked beachy waves in the same sheen, but sported a light orange and black dress. Dormer's hair was also parted in the same way, framing her face in a flattering way. For wonderful waves of your own, be sure to use the Steiner Jelly Whip Styling Gel 150ml as you're crafting your curls.
