The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show brought a bit of bold and sexy flair to New York City this week, showcasing a dazzling array of ethereal lingerie and, of course, the famous glittery angel wings. But what really captured all the attention at this year's event were the hair and makeup styles rocked by the fabulous models. Ranging from shimmery metallics to voluminous tresses, the beauty trends on display at the Victoria's Secret show were more enviable than the clothes - an impressive feat when the models include the likes of Karlie Kloss and Adriana Lima.
Want to look like a Victoria's Secret angel? Luckily, the look is entirely attainable without a gaggle of backstage makeup artists. Just follow these beauty trends and tips:
Most of the models on the runway sported flowing locks with loose yet luxurious curls. If your hair's in need of a lift, first wash it with a volumizing shampoo, such as the Steiner Abundance Intense Volumizing Shampoo, which will revitalize damaged hair and strengthen its elasticity. A tip to getting soft, silky-smooth hair is the way you dry it, hair stylist Orlando Pita told Allure magazine. Mist damp hair with the Steiner Shine Drops Hair Serum then fully dry your hair from the roots to the ends with a blow dryer and a smoothing mousse. To cut down on unwanted frizz, blow dry your hair on the lowest heat setting. Next, wrap two-to-three inch sections of your hair around a curling iron, clamping down gently so you don't fry the curls.
Since the show isn't airing on television until Dec. 10, the models sported an appropriately festive palette of warm and shimmery hues. To get a radiant glow, makeup artist Dick Page told Allure that he blends a peach lipstick onto the cheeks before applying the foundation. For the eyes, Page opted for dark brown eyeliner instead of black, which has a less harsh effect. After lining both your upper and lower lashlines, use a bronzer, such as the California Sun Glow, on the inner corners of your eyes, blending it in with your fingertips or a defined eyeshadow brush. This will not only make your eyes pop, but also extend the golden sheen of your skin to your eyes. For your pout, sprinkle some of the bronzer over a juicy clear lipgloss to really pack a punch. Of course, Page added to the magazine that you can never use too much mascara to seal your glittery golden look.
