Tips for more hydration

Now that winter's chill has torn through the country in earnest, it's important to ensure that your exposed skin stays hydrated as you move from place to place. There's nothing more frustrating than chapped hands or dry limbs, and unless you're paying attention to the warning signs, itchy patches of red, dry skin might creep up on you.

Support hydration with your diet
There are ways to prevent the effects of cold weather from the inside out. According to Health Magazine, foods high in water content, such as cucumbers, iceberg lettuce and celery, add bursts of hydration that help provide the body with extra moisture. By adding a few of these greens to your diet everyday, you'll be doing your body a favor by providing it with water from the foods you're eating as well as the liquids you're drinking.

Drink a lot of water
Although we might be inclined to reach for another cup of coffee to warm our bones, consider fueling up with another cup of water, too. There's nothing wrong with a little extra caffeine, but during these winter months especially, your body is craving additional hydration. While the effects of coffee on the body have been hotly contested, there's one surefire way to rise above the rumors - fit an extra few cups of water into your daily routine. By consciously working toward this effort, you'll be on your way to achieving a healthier winter lifestyle without worrying over liquid volumes or caffeine intake.

Use moisturizers whenever possible
There's no such thing as over moisturizing if you're using the right product. You know your body the best - if it feels right to apply gobs of thick, luxurious formulas to your body, then that's what should be done. However, be cautious of how the creams might be affecting your pores. Your skin needs to breathe, and while some moisturizers might be good for immediate relief, if you notice that they're sitting on top of your skin without absorbing, it might be because an ingredient in the formula is preventing your body from soaking it in as quickly as you're applying it.

When you've figured out how often you should reapply, it's time to consider if a formulated product is the next step. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Radiantly Smooth Body Cream 50ml, for instance, gives your skin the moisture boost it needs and helps support firmness.
