Fall for these 3 fetching lip trends

The fact is, there are only so many weeks left of summer. Even though it's tough to trade your bright bikinis and floral frocks for riding boots and cozy sweaters, you'll have a much easier time swapping out your makeup. After all, you're likely tired of those summery coral lipsticks and shimmery bronzers. It's time for a totally new look - and fall is the perfect time for a change.

As the leaves on the trees turn colors, so will the hue on your lips. This season is all about shades that ooze sheer confidence. From rich matte stains to metallics glosses, the hottest autumn lip trends are nothing short of dramatic.

Here's everything you need to know about the notice-me look this fall - and pointers for your own pout.

From matte cranberry to raspberry gloss, these fruit-inspired shades are definitely hot this season.

At Carolina Herrera, the models wore a deep purplish-pink boysenberry hue, which strikes the perfect compromise between sophisticated and rock 'n' roll. Plus, it happens to pair well with the colors in your fall wardrobe, like forest green, camel brown and charcoal gray.

Since this look calls for a stain, it's crucial that you keep your pucker in tip-top shape. Stains can be drying and moreover, draw attention to any flakes or cracks in your lips. Use the Bliss Fabulips Pout-o-Matic Lip Perfecting System to buff away any dead cells and moisturize your skin. Once you've polished and nourished your pout, apply the berry pigment at the center of your lips and press them together to distribute the color. If you want to amplify the color, apply concealer to your lips before the stain.

Or, if you prefer, you could try a high-pigment lip lacquer. Use your ring finger to apply the color so you can build it up to your desired intensity. This technique is especially helpful for edgier, darker hues like blackberry. For extra staying power, start by lining your lips and coloring your lips with a pencil in the same hue.

The glitzy bronze lips that models sported at Rodarte's fall fashion show were glamorous in the flashiest way possible - but the look is surprisingly wearable off the catwalk. According to Allure, James Kaliardos, the makeup artist who created it, began by lining the models' pouts with a chocolate brown eyeliner, and then mixed his own lip color using loose glitter, a coffee-colored lipstick and a burgundy gloss.

Another take on this trend is the shimmering burgundy seen on Ralph & Russo models' mouths. Beauty High noted that the best way to achieve this look is to apply matte crimson lipstick all over, then dab a bit of clear gloss with gold or silver flecks in the center of your lips.

Sometimes less is more - and that's the beauty philosophy behind this look. The Kit reported that barely-there beige lips were seen at a multitude of fashion shows, including Peter Som, Wes Gordon and Tommy Hilfiger.

While the minimalist trend can work for anyone, the key is to find a shade that complements your complexion. If you have fair skin, go for shades with pink undertones to avoid looking washed out. Those with golden or darker complexions might want to opt for caramel or shades that err on the side of bronze.
