Try These Anti-Aging Face Exercises
We work out our abs, glutes and arms to stay fit, but for some reason, we don't really think to exercise our faces. Our visages are made up of muscles too, and working them out can help keep our faces looking firm and youthful. Facial exercises tighten all three layers of the skin and boost blood flow.
"By working all these layers correctly it will increase the blood circulation, allowing more oxygen and more nourishment to reach the cells of the skin," said Danielle Collins, a face yoga expert, in an interview with Marie Claire UK. "The result is a clear, healthy complexion with a beautiful glow which has less toxins and has a better ability to absorb moisture."
Face workouts also tone the muscles of the face to improve overall appearance, according to Byrdie.com.
Try these facial exercises and yoga poses to reduce the appearance of aging and get a healthy and hydrated flush without resorting to fillers or surgery. Collins recommended that you do facial exercises for 20 minutes six times a week, however, you can just spend a few minutes each day working out the face to still reap the benefits. You can do these exercises while sitting in bed or watching TV, so they're easy to fit into your schedule. Some of them might make you feel silly, but don't worry, no one's watching - and the results will have people complimenting your gorgeous complexion.
You might feel silly doing them, but these facial exercises can bring real results.
Brow Line Eraser
Frustrated by pesky creases on your forehead? Try this simple exercise. Place the fingertips of both hands on your forehead so your hands are facing toward each other. Lightly drag the fingers out across the temples and toward your hairline in a smooth motion. Return to the starting position and repeat five times.
Frown Reverser
This move is great for reducing the signs of stress on the face, according to The Beauty Bean, and can help relieve tension. Begin by inhaling through your nose, then squeeze your fists as you clench all of your face muscles. Hold for one to two seconds and then repeat.
Looker-Upper
Seeing too much sagging around eyes and under brows? Collins recommended this exercise to tighten things up. Place an index finger under each of your eyes with your fingers pointing inward. Suck in your top and bottom lips so they cover your teeth, and then look up while quickly batting your upper eyelids and lashes. Continue the exercise for 30 seconds.
Easy Lifting
According to Byrdie, this exercise will give you a facelift without any scary procedures or chemicals. Place both hands on your temples, with your hands pointing toward your hairline. Drag your hands toward your hair so the sides of your face are lifted. As you move your hands, form your lips into an "o" and let your jaw extend. Hold for five seconds and then repeat a few more times.
Say Ah
If a droopy neck or jowls have got you down, do this easy exercise recommended by The Beauty Bean that tightens up the mouth, chin and neck area. Open your mouth as wide as possible without straining yourself, hold your tongue in the center and stay in this position for one minute.
Eye Toner
This exercise from Collins can help reduce crow's feet and puffiness around the eyes. Place the middle fingers of each hand at the inner corners of eyes and the index fingers at the ends of brows and lightly press down. While pressing the fingers, look up and lift the lower eyelids so you are squinting, and then let loose. Collins recommended doing the exercise six times and tightly shutting the eyes for 10 seconds after finishing the reps.
A few times a week, finish your workout by massaging in the Elemis Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Serum for an even prettier glow!
