Sometimes life can get a little hectic. When that happens, remembering to schedule a salon appointment to touch up your hair color is probably the least of your concerns. However, this may come back to haunt you if you've got a big date planned and you notice brassy highlights have taken over your mane.
According to some beauty experts, food coloring may be just the thing you need to even out your color.
"You want to mix a pea size drop with shampoo of whatever color is opposite the offending tone in your hair color," celebrity hair colorist Kyle White told Glamour Magazine.
Food coloring comes in a range of hues, including red, blue and green. For example, if you're a brunette and you want to get rid of unwanted red tones in your locks, try mixing hair products like Phytodensium Anti-Aging Shampoo with green food coloring. If you have dull orange tones in your hair, you may be able to neutralize this with a blue food dye. If the color doesn’t turn out exactly how you wanted it to, no worries! Just wash your hair a few more times and these hues will easily vanish.
While you may be skeptical about this experimental method, it could be the quick-fix you need between visits to the salon to maintain your beauty look.
