Top fashion trends for 2018

Are you ready for a wardrobe refresh? Here are the top fashion trends to watch out for this year:

Color: Pretty in purple

Fashion experts are naming lavender as the color to wear this year. Maybe it's an echo of Pantone's "Ultra Violet" Color of the Year, but Harper's Bazaar predicts this pastel hue will be the new millennial pink. Plus, soft shades of lavender and lilac were all over the Spring 2018 runway. This trend should be simple to find, as your favorite stores will follow the fashion icons by offering plenty of purple sweaters, skirts, jackets and tees.

Pattern: Plaid, flowers and sparkles

According to Pop Sugar's trend predictions, we'll be seeing a lot of check prints, floral patterns and daytime-appropriate sparkles this year. Don't pair them together, of course, but instead make a statement with each separate look. Pair check-print pants or a plaid skirt with black booties and a chunky sweater for your go-to, professional-chic uniform. Channel the '60s with a floral dress on the weekends or go for a simple dress with bold, floral-patterned booties. Finally, show your glitter and sequins the sunlight with totally glam and convenient day-to-night looks.

Shoes: Buckles and PVC

Buckles on your heels, boots, sandals - they're everywhere! Depending on the style, these shoes will turn heads as a retro statement piece, or will become a neutral, versatile addition to your closet. And don't skip your pedicure because clear, PVC shoes are in this year. Chanel gets credit for taking this PVC trend to a whole new level of chic with a bold Spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear Collection.

Accessorize: Scrunchies and fringe

The scrunchies are back! You've probably seen them around as they've been growing in popularity, but after spotting them in Balenciaga's and Mansur Gavriel's collections, Vogue named these fabulous hair accessories a definite trend for 2018. Everyone is also falling in love with fringe again. This is the year to bring out your vintage fringe pieces, or invest in new bags and jackets with this fun and textured detail.
