4 Hairstyles Perfect for Hot-Weather Days
When it's so hot out that your clothes are sticking to your body and sweat is making your eyes sting, the last thing you want to think about is your hair. When the temperature goes up, so should your hair. Into a no-fuss updo that lets your neck get a little breeze, that is. But it's one thing to twist your hair into a floppy and frazzled bun when you're cleaning the kitchen - it's another to walk into the office or greet your date with a raggy 'do matted with sweat.
A scorching day doesn't mean you have to sacrifice pretty for perspiration. Here are four easy hairstyles you can do that are perfect for hot-weather days:
Carefree crown braid
A crown braid is a pretty way to get your hair off your face - and keep it there. Renaissance princesses and forest nymphs always seemed calm and collected - and sweat free - rocking this ethereal look, so why don't you give it a try? Take some inspo from blogger Victoria Rafaeli, who looks totally cool sporting a thick crown braid with her light, warm-weather ensemble. To create the style, section off 2 inches of hair behind your ear on one side of your head. Starting as close to the scalp as possible, braid the length of hair and secure with a clear tie. Bring the braid over the crown of your head and secure the end behind your other ear with a few bobby pins. Then, twist the rest of your hair into a bun.
A braided pony is a pretty way to keep your hair off your face on hot days.
Beat-the-heat braided pony
The humble ponytail is a go-to look when the weather starts heating up, but there are so many variations you can give it that take it from plain to pretty. Try incorporating small braids into your ponytail for a breezy look perfect for hot days. Begin by French-braiding a small section of hair from your hairline, and then when you reach the back of your head continue braiding the section of hair down to the ends. Gather all of your hair, braided piece included, into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. You can leave as is or make one or two tiny braids in the ponytail itself. For an additional twist, you can also make a wrapped pony. Simply leave a one-inch section of hair out of the ponytail and then wrap it around the hair tie to hide it, pinning underneath.
The relaxed roll
This easy style will have you looking totally angelic as you lounge in the sun or run errands on a summer day. Begin by parting hair in the middle, then take a one-inch section from the right side and twist it toward your head. Start twisting at the hairline and continue all the way to the back of your head, and pin in place. Then repeat on the other side. Take end from the left and pin it under the hair on the twisted hair on right and vice versa, so the ends of the hair are hidden and it looks like a continuous twist. You can then braid the rest of your hair or make a low bun on the nape of your neck.
A soft fabric headband is a great way to keep your hairline sweat-free and looking fabulous. You can choose from a variety of colors and fabrics - choose a bright patterned scarf for a mod '60s look, or a thick black headband to channel Brigitte Bardot. A headband can be added to nearly every summer style, from a high ponytail to a low chignon.
For added smoothness, try incorporating the KÉRASTASE Discipline range of products into your regimen. KÉRASTASE Discipline Bain Fluidealiste is a sulfate-free shampoo designed to tame unruly hair. Smoothing agents gently coat the hair surface to make it smoother, more manageable and protected from frizz. Treat your locks to a weekly deep conditioning treatment with KÉRASTASE Discipline Maskeratine. Once this dense, smooth, luscious gel is rinsed, hair is softer, easier to detangle and replenished so that it puts up no resistance to styling.
Finish any pony, loose braid or long style with a small amount of KÉRASTASE Elixir Ultime Oléo-Complexe. This hair oil is designed for all hair types in need of extra shine. This oil also provides thermo-protection, anti-humidity properties, and helps strengthen the hair over time.
